5 Killed in Massachusetts Car Accident
5 killed in Massachusetts Car Accident
Five people were killed early this morning in a head-on collision. The car accident occurred on Interstate 495 in Middleboro, Mass. A wrong way driver is the cause of this deadly accident. Massachusetts State Police said the driver was heading south in the northbound lane just after midnight. The driver crashed into another vehicle carrying four people. All five people in both cars died.
Massachusetts State Police Alerted
Anthony Thomas, the commanding office of the State Police barracks in Middleboro, said State Police received a call about a wrong-way driver at 12:11am, shortly before the crash occurred. It is unknown how long the vehicle was on the highway before the accident happened. Police say the victim’s car burst into flames after being hit head-on by the wrong-way driver in the high- speed lane. It appears there was not enough time for the vehicle carrying the four passengers to react to the oncoming driver. Thomas said the four people in the car that was hit were all “young adults”. Names of those involved in the car accident have not yet been disclosed. The northbound lane was closed for several hours and re-opened around 5:30am.
